Nicki Minaj’s Dad: She's Exaggerating About How Violent I Was

NYDailyNews.com

Nicki Minaj is no stranger to controversy, but her father is claiming he’s the victim of her most recent media blitz.
Minaj’s father, Omar, admits that he did have anger issues when he was raising the rapper, but denies the extent of his supposed abuse, family sources tell TMZ.
According to the site, Omar is devastated that his daughter has chosen to speak so publicly and says he still loves Minaj very much.
In a “Nightline” interview last week, the 29-year-old performer spoke out about her father’s alleged drug and alcohol abuse, saying that she “wanted to kill him” and “wished he was dead.”

“My father was abusive,” she told “Nightline” correspondent Juju Chang. “We were afraid for (my mother’s) life because whenever he would have a real bad outburst, he would threaten to kill her.”
The “Stupid Hoe” rapper also claimed that Omar once nearly burned down the family home.
Minaj has spoken out about her troubled childhood before.
“I thought we would just be happy, but with a drug-addicted parent, there is no such thing as being happy,” she told Vibe magazine. “When you have a father who is stealing your furniture and selling it so that he can buy crack, you suffer.
“You come home from school and your couch is gone. You’re like, ‘What happened?’”
No comments yet from Minaj’s camp regarding her dad’s denial.
